Dragons are also seen in architecture at temples and palaces; on jewelry, porcelain, painting and handicrafts. There are also many poems and folk tales about the dragon. Chinese people have revered the dragon since ancient times. It is regarded as a divine creature; a symbol of power and strength that brings good fortune. If a person is born in the year of the Dragon, it is a great honor and they are considered especially lucky. According to the Chinese lunar calendar, 2012 is the year of the Dragon.
