In November 1989 crowds of cheering people packed the streets of Berlin as the Berlin Wall was destroyed. How could the fall of a wall be a major cause for celebration? The wall had also come to represent thedivision between the countries in Eastern Europe which were ruled by Communist Governments and those in Western Europe which were democracies.
